Computing Lead Mr Haslam
Computing Link Governor Mrs Murby

Computing equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to become active, competent and responsible and safe participants in a rich digital world. Our computing curriculum provides opportunities for all pupils to become digitally literate, and to have the skills to express themselves and develop their ideas safely within a variety of contexts through digital technology.

Our computing curriculum encompasses the aims of the National Curriculum to ensure all pupils:

  • can understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation
  • can analyse problems in computational terms, and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems
  • can evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, analytically to solve problems
  • are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology

Our curriculum starts in Early years where the children recognise that a range of technology is used in places such as homes and schools. Moving progressively through the year groups to Year 6, the children experience a range of technologies and encounter computing in discrete lessons as well applying their learning throughout the curriculum.

Online safety is explicitly modelled and taught, with all of our children and families benefitting from our online safety knowledge organisers.

Computing / Music 12/05/2023 Meadow Class

Today the children sang a song called Bringing us Together during our music lesson. This is the second time they have sang this song in full. Part of our computing this term is to record sound using  the software Audacity. For our Y6 children they also have to remove (edit) the silent parts at the beginning and end of the song.
Computing / DT 26.05.23

Part of the children's computing task last half term was to record a podcast that included music and sound effects. The children created podcasts about our joint DT day. All the children used a pseudonym instead of their real names. Hope you enjoy listening to the recordings.
