Safeguarding

All staff and governors at The Acorn Federation are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  All volunteers are expected to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy which can be viewed both here and in the Key Documents section of our website.  Further policies linked to safeguarding our pupils can be found in the Key Documents area of the website.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.

We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.  All staff and governors have undertaken Prevent training.

We support the Stopping Domestic Abuse Together Initiative.

Prevent Duty

Prevent is about supporting and protecting people who might be susceptible to being drawn into terrorism.

Schools have a duty to prevent our children from the risks associated with radicalisation and extremism.

Government Guidance on this duty can be found by clicking this link Prevent Duty Guidance

Mrs Teresa Bosley is our Prevent Lead and is supported by Mrs Norcross and Mrs Thomas.
